mélanie loisel

After several years in documentary filmmaking, Mélanie Loisel turned to music.

A double bassist with essentially classical training, free improvised music led her down new paths of exploration.

Together with Fabien Delisle, a multidisciplinary artist, they created the piece Crâne Cru. Then, in 2018, she created AU SEUIL, a ritual concert based on traditional funeral music, with soprano Mathilde Barthélémy.

Mélanie Loisel also develops her music within theatre and dance companies. As a performer, in 2022 she joined the contemporary music duo GRANDE for an extended formation. She occasionally collaborates with Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy's Tachycardie ensemble, and is currently developing other musical formations, always on the edge between improvisation and established frameworks.

Since 2021, Mélanie Loisel has been composing Borguefül, a first solo project for double bass and voice, the writing of which draws on a wealth of research and inspiration. The album 'Horst' was released in October 2022 on the Pagans Records and La République des Granges labels
