boris boublil
Boris Boublil, born in 1980, began playing piano at 5 and studied classical music at the Fontenay-sous-Bois conservatory until he was 14, before discovering jazz, rock, and film music. He joined the American School of Modern Music in 1998 to study composition and played in several bands, including leading the jazz group Le Toît. His collaborations with Gaspard LaNuit and Surnatural Orchestra marked the start of his composing career. In 2003, he became a composer for Surnatural Orchestra and toured with Wildmimi Antigroove Syndicate in 2006. He also worked with artists like Dominique A, Matthieu Chedid, and Bertrand Belin, and founded the band Atlas Crocodile in 2007. He later expanded into film and theater music, collaborating with John Parish in 2012 on a project based on Raymond Carver’s writings, contributing to the circus show Le bal des intouchables, and joining the band OK in 2013. Since 2016, he has toured with Surnatural Orchestra and the Inextremiste company for contemporary circus projects, composing for films such as Derniers remords avant l’oubli (2017) and Tout ce qu’il me reste de la révolution (2018), and in 2019, he spoke about his film music at the French Film Festival in Richmond.

In 2019, he created the project Mù, born from the desire to form a post-rock instrumental orchestra. The project invites the listener to explore simple, captivating melodies, both electric and acoustic colors, and wordless songs that leave space for reflection and imagination, with compositions inspired by the likes of Mark Hollis and Nino Rota.
